The Indonesian artist Tarfi Abdullah: “Painting must be started from the ideas that we want to send to other people. For me, those ideas I found from the environment and real objects from the daily life I was familiar with, or my obsessions about the events as narrated in the holy book”.
His education at ASRI Yogyakarta influenced his technical painting. But more important are his ideas about life which he finds in the stories of Lombok wayang and in traditional Lombok rituals.
